Weight stigma is about making judgments, as well as shaming, blaming and discriminating based on body size. Weight stigma is everywhere—in our homes, schools, workplaces, even many doctor’s (and other healthcare professionals’) offices, and it’s a major contributing factor to the development and maintenance of eating disorders.
The 4th Annual Weight Stigma Awareness Week 2014 hosted by the Binge Eating Disorder Association (BEDA) takes place September 22 – 26.
